Transformation that followed with political, social and economic changes twenty years ago influenced all aspects of our life. Today the independence of Slovenia is seen as a controversial turning point, through which creative energy was released and new possibilities for architecture, design and other creative practices opened. On the other hand all this disciplines were demanded to proactively react to finances, clients, practical needs, knowledge and random circumstances.

It might seem that tasks of architecture and design in this period were oriented towards enlarging luxury of living, mostly beyond reach to people in the socialistic period. The role of architects and designers seems to emphases to the position of cheap, quick and immediate effective service offerers. In undefined circumstances, when common goals seem to be minimalized and short-termed, creative individuals tried to bring innovations and new accesses into force through every small project. It looks like there’s nothing really big or breaking through, but despite that, our first twenty years are an interesting compilation of projects that enlargened various accessions and products that reflect design adjusted to individuals and where space and objects generate human experiences.

A quick balance of architecture, design and photography will give an overview and worthy investments and also stress the minuses, deficits, and debts. In such a sense the exhibition will show the maximum creative and visionary celebration of twenty years of Slovene independence.
